• Every 20 minutes, a child is diagnosed with critical illness and the top 3 causes of death in age range from 2 -15 the top 3 causes of death is (1) cancer, (2) congenital malformations, deformations and chromosomal abnormalities and (3) suicide (age range of 10-15). An analysis of health data revealed that as many as 1 in 6 U.S children the ages 2 and 17 has treatable mental health disorder such as depression, anxiety problems or attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder

 

• Age and poverty level affected the likelihood of children receiving treatment for anxiety, depression, or behavior problems. Growing up in poverty is one of the greatest threats to healthy child development. It increases the likelihood that a child will be exposed to factors that can impair brain development and lead to poor academic, cognitive and health outcomes. It also can result in higher rates of risky health-related behaviors among adolescents.

 

• Among children living below 100% of the federal poverty level, more than 1 in 5 (22%) had a mental, behavioral, or developmental disorder.
